From here we visit the neighbor, next door sanctuary.... that is Borneo Sun Bear.

The sun bear (Helarctos malayanus) is a bear found in tropical forest habitats of Southeast Asia. It is classified as Vulnerable by IUCN as the large-scale deforestation that has occurred throughout Southeast Asia over the past three decades has dramatically reduced suitable habitat for the sun bear. It is suspected that the global population has declined by more than 30% over the past three bear generations.

The Malayan sun bear is also known as the "honey bear", which refers to its voracious appetite for  honeycombs  and  honey

this sanctuary had recently opened its door. It is located right next to the orang utan sanctuary. It has currently got 27 sun bears in there, all bears are rescue bears. Beautiful creatures they are indeed. Out of the 27,8 stay closer to home and can be seen by the public the others are now deeper in the jungle as part of their rehabilitation. the bears are not fed at special times, but with the help of the friendly staff you're sure to get a glimpse at some of the sun bears. As this is a conservation centre, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, staff/volunteers are on hand to eagerly assist you in your Sun Bear spotting. There is even a scope (like a single lens binocular, mounted on a tripod) on the Viewing Platform so even if you don't have your own binoculars with you, you won't miss out.

we continue  to RDC,  Rainforest Discovery Centre evolved from a small, cozy environmental education (EE) centre in 1996 into one of Sabah's most popular EE centers. It is a Conserving forests, as well as the sustainable us of the forest resources.  It managed by the EE Unit of the Sabah Forestry Department.  The 147 m-long sturdy, steel canopy walkway is THE most accessible in Sabah!  Designed for high visitor traffic, you will never have to wait in line again to get up to the canopy!!..  This walkway enables you to have a spectacular view of the beautiful rain forest of Sepilok from up to 28 m above the forest floor,

Visit the Australian Memorial. Australian prisoners were sent to Sandakan in 1942 to build an airstrip.  At first they were treated reasonably well.  Gradually, however, rations were reduced and bashings increased. In 1944 Japanese decided to sent about 2,000 Australian and British prisoners westward to Ranau, in Borneo's rugged interior. Can all the prisoners stay alive??? you have to go for yourself at the Australian Memorial.
